Awkwafina
Awkwafina is an American actor and musician who made her name with smart raps that addressed gender and ethnic identities from a the most comical of perspectives. She then expanded to Hollywood. She was born Nora Lum to Chinese and Korean immigrant parents from Forest Hills Queens her first encounter with the world of music was in the form of the trumpet. The classical, jazz, and hip-hop studies began when she was a teenager. While in college, she took classes in journalism and women's studies. She even spent an hour studying Mandarin during her time in Beijing. The focus on music until she completed her degree. Her 2012 track My Vag a response to Mickey Avalon's My Dick found viral success on the Internet before settling on her debut album Yellow Ranger in 2014. It also included viral hits, such as body positive Queef & winking home tour NYC Bitche$1. This latter song was directly connected to Awkwafina's NYC, a 2015 travel guide. Alongside having published a book as well, she also worked singing. In addition to early shows like Girl Code and Tawk she was also featured in movies like Neighbors 2, Storks as well as Bad Rap. In 2018, she landed several notable roles including Dude Ocean 8 and Crazy Rich Asians. The EP came out in June.
